Classic Larke Pass Trekking-

Classic Larke Pass Trekking is one of the most exhilarating treks in Nepal which circles the Manaslu range. Opened to foreigners in 1992, this trek offers outstanding views of the 8th highest peak in the world, Mt Manaslu (8163 m). The trek takes you across the dramatic pass of Larkya La (5160m), which is frozen almost all year. During this trek, you walk through authentic ethnic villages and explore the geographical and cultural variations of the Tibetan style villages situated on the foothills of the gorgeous Manaslu range.

Classic Larke Pass Trekking starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. From Kathmandu, you take a scenic drive to Soti Khola and then start trekking. You go north up the valley of Budhi Gandaki River accompanied by the views of Manaslu Himal Range to cross the ice and snow covered Larkya La (5160 m), which is the highest point during this Larke Pass Trekking. The trail goes through the fertile farmlands, beautiful rhododendron forests, scattered villages, ancient monasteries, deep gorges, and rocky ridges. Along with the cultural heritage, you also get to witness a combination of picturesque Landscapes in Manaslu Trekking Region and biodiversity. The trek package not only provides an opportunity to view the fabulous snow capped mountains like Ganesh Himal (7429 m), Himalchuli (7893 m), Himlung Himal (7126 m), Cheo Himal (6812 m), and so on, but also allows to observe the Tibetan culture and way of life. Some parts of this Classic Manaslu Trekking Route are really challenging and difficult and that is why you need to have a good physical fitness to take on this trek. The best seasons for this trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to mid-December).

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (1350m), transfer to Thamel, Check in hotel.

The trip begins with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu. Our company representative will welcome you at the airport and then you will be transferred to the hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 2
Sightseeing: Manaslu Especial Permit preparation day, Boudhanath-Pashupatinath-Swayambhunath, O/N in hotel.

You meet our tour guide at the hotel premises and head out to explore Kathmandu. You will visit the pilgrimage sites of Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Swayambhunath, all of which are listed as the UNESCO world heritage sites. Meanwhile, we will arrange the permits and documents required for this trek. You can also take suggestions from your guide and prepare for your trek. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3
Drive to Soti Khola by public bus or private jeep, 6-7 hrs.

On this day, you leave Kathmandu and drive to Soti Khola by bus or jeep depending upon the group size. You ride comfortably until Dhading Besi as the road is black-topped. The next part of the ride takes you through the dirt road with bumpy rides. You drive through dense forests, green hills, and traditional villages before reaching Soti Khola. Overnight in Soti Khola.

Day 4
Trek to Lapubesi (884m), 5 hrs.

You descend into the wild sandy riverbed of Budhi Gandaki once again and follow the path which runs below the craggy village side. Up ahead, you climb up on a trail to Machha Khola and then head upstream to the tiny village of Khorlabeshi, where the peaks of Ganesh Himal range accompany you. Overnight in Khorlabeshi.

Day 5
Trek to Khorlabeshi (970m), 4 hrs.

You descend into the wild sandy riverbed of Budhi Gandaki once again and follow the path which runs below the craggy village side. Up ahead, you climb up on a trail to Machha Khola and then head upstream to the tiny village of Khorlabeshi, where the peaks of Ganesh Himal range accompany you. Overnight in Khorlabeshi.

Day 6
Trek to Jagat (1340m), 5-6 hr, Special Manaslu Region Trekking Permit will be controlled here.

From Khorlabeshi, you ascend on to a ridge and then descend to Tatopani. You cross Budi Gandaki River and then continue climbing on stone stairs to reach Dovan. This route comprises of many ups and downs and finally takes you to Thado Bhanjyang and then to Jagat. In Jagat, there is a police checkpoint where you get your permits checked. Overnight in Jagat.

Day 7
Trek to Chisapani (1660m), 5.5 hrs.

After a permit check-in Jagat, you climb over a rocky ridge to reach Salleri and then descend to Sirdibas. You follow the trail to Ghatta Khola and cross the hanging bridge. After climbing to the Gurung village of Philim, you head north across a forest and reach Chisapani, where you stay for the night.

Day 8
Trek to Deng (1860m), 4-5 hrs.

You continue to follow the upstream trail of Budhi Gandaki River and pass through small villages and waterfalls while enjoying the views of Ganesh Himal range and Himalchuli (7893m) all along the way to reach Nyak. A steep ascends from Nyak takes you to the village of Deng, situated on the foothill of Shringi Himal (7161m). Overnight in Deng.

Day 9
Trek to Namrung (2630m), 6-7 hrs.

After leaving Deng behind, you cross Budhi Gandaki River and continue to ascend to Rana village. You trek west towards a beautiful waterfall and then walk inside the rhododendron forests. Ascend ahead and you arrive at the Namrung village. You can see the views of Ganesh Himal (7429m) and Himalchuli (7893m) from here. Overnight in Namrung.

Day 10
Trek to Lho Village 3180m, 5-6 hrs.

Today is going to be a short day of trekking. You trek past Lihi, cross Hinang River, and climb to Sho. After that, you gradually head up to the large village of Lho which has a little monastery and numerous Chortens and Mani walls. Enjoy an amazing panorama of Manaslu Himal (8163m) and Himalchuli range. Overnight in Lho.

Day 11
Trek to Samagaon (3520m), 5 hrs.

You follow the right bank of Budhi Gandaki River with the views of Peak 29 (7871m) ahead. Taking a detour ahead, you head towards Hongsanbu Gompa and the Punggen Glacier. Join the main trail again and you reach the fields of Samagaon in no time. Samagoan is the best host of breathtaking views of the Manaslu Himal range. Overnight in Samagaon.

Day 12
Acclimatize day- Hike to Manaslu BC (4400m), or some activities around the Village.

In order to get adjusted to the high altitude conditions, you do not trek further and take this day for resting. During your stay in Samagaon, you can visit the Birendra Tal or you can hike up to Manaslu Base Camp for amazing mountain panoramas. You can also visit the ancient Pema Chyoling Monastery, situated in the lap of Manaslu Himal (8163m). You can also spend the day interacting with the locals and getting a taste of their culture. Overnight in Sama Gaon.

Day 13
Trek to Samdo village (3875m), 4.30 hrs.

You cross a high plateau and skirt around the ridge of lateral moraine heading towards Karmo Kharka and Kermo Mamam. Climbing a terraced hillside opposite the bank of Budhi Gandaki River, you make your way to Samdo village. If you trek above Samdu and cross a stream, you arrive at the ruins village known as Larkya Bazaar. Overnight in Samdo.

Day 14
Trek to Dharmashala or Larke Pass Base Camp (4460m), 3-4 hrs.

You descend on the wide trail from Samdo and pass many fields to a large Mani wall. The trail is rocky and zigzag all the way to Dharmashala. After crossing the east bank of Budhi Gandaki River, you reach Larkya Bazaar, which is the last settlement before crossing Larkya La (5160m). Following the high trail that rises above Larke Khola, you make your way to Dharmashala, also known as Larke Pass Base Camp. Overnight in Dharmashala.

Day 15
Trek to Bimthang (3590m), 7-9 hrs.

Today’s trek begins with a steep ascending walk until Larkya La (5160m) through the rocky and windy trail. From the top of the frozen pass, amazing views of Manaslu Himal range and few peaks of the Ann we quite The Manaslu Region Trekking area and enter in Annapurna Trekking Region Area. After crossing the pass, you hike downhill through ice and rock. Encountering many icy lakes, you arrive in Bimthang, which is a broad and leveled ablation valley with Mani walls and deserted houses. From here, you can get the views of Himlung Himal (7126m), Cheo Himal (6812m), and Manaslu North (7157m). Overnight in Bimthang.

Day 16
Trek to Goa (2515m0, 4-5 hrs.

Leaving the beautiful views of the Himalayas behind, you get up and start trekking once again. The trail descends and passes through the rhododendron forests and takes you to Karache, which is one of the highest cultivated villages of Nepal. Trekking ahead from Karache, you arrive in Goa, where you spend the night.

Day 17
Trek to Dharapani (1963m), 5-6 hrs.

Walking down from Goa, you cross a steam and reach Tilije. From Tilije, you cross the high pasture and descend the valley of Burdin Khola. You trek all the way over the descended path along the bank of Dudh Khola and cross a bridge to reach Dharapani, where Dudh Khola meets Marsyangdi River. Overnight in Dharapani.

Day 18
Drive by jeep to Besisahar (760m), 2 hrs, But, when you trek to Jagat (1300m), 5-6 hrs.

You can either choose to end the trek today and take a jeep ride to Besisahar or continue the trek and move ahead to Jagat. If you choose the second option, then you follow the trail downstream of Marsyangdi River and pass through the villages of Tal and Chamje to reach Jagat.

Day 19
Drive Kathmandu, 6 hrs while continuing trek to Bahun Danda (1310m), 5-6 hrs.

If you end up in Besisahar today, then a tourist bus will take you back to Kathmandu. If you are in Jagat, then today you trek to Bahun Danda. On your way to the village of Bahun Danda, you see the beautiful sceneries of the small waterfall as you pass through the farm villages and terraced fields.

Day 20
Drive to Besisahar – Kathmandu, 6 hrs, and transfer to hotel.

On this day, you drive to Besisahar from Bahun Danda and then take another drive to Kathmandu. You will spend most of the day on the road. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can relax at your hotel or go out for some souvenir shopping. In the evening, you join the group for a farewell dinner hosted by the company. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 21
Final departure from Kathmandu.

The trip comes to an end today. After a fulfilling breakfast at the hotel, our representative will drop you at the airport for your scheduled flight back home.
